We evaluate and diagnose ADHD for students 18 and under. While each case is unique, adults without a prior ADHD diagnosis are typically referred to a clinical psychologist for a thorough assessment, ensuring accurate diagnosis and personalized care.

What We Accept and Require for an ADHD Evaluation

At Tulsa Family Psychiatry & Wellness, we are committed to ensuring the highest standards of care and accuracy in evaluations. To maintain this standard, we have specific requirements for the evaluations we accept. Below is a detailed guide to what we do and do not accept as supporting documentation for an ADHD evaluation.

What we DO Accept

To meet good clinical practice, evaluations must adhere to the following criteria:

  1. Conducted by a Licensed Professional
    • The evaluation must be completed by a licensed professional with a Ph.D. or PsyD from an APA-accredited institution.
  2. In-Person Administration
    • Evaluations must be conducted in person. Online or virtual assessments are not accepted.
  3. Comprehensive Testing
    • A quality evaluation must assess a wide range of cognitive and psychological functions, including:
      • Executive function
      • Memory
      • Attentional skills
      • Cognitive processing
  4. Incorporates Differential Diagnostics
    • The evaluation must include a thorough differential diagnostics summary, taking into consideration potential comorbidities (other related conditions).

What we DO NOT Accept

To ensure the integrity and reliability of evaluations, we do not accept the following:

  1. Evaluations by Master’s Level Professionals
    • Evaluations completed by individuals with LPC, LPC-S, M.Ed., LCSW, LADC, or other master’s-level degrees are not accepted.

While master’s-level clinicians are highly skilled, adult ADHD evaluations often require the specialized testing and diagnostic expertise of doctoral-level psychologists or physicians. This ensures the most accurate results and the highest standard of care.

  2. Online Screenings or Quick-Service Assessments
    • Assessments from platforms like ADHDOnline.com or other “quick-service” evaluations are not accepted.
  3. Screening-Only Evaluations
    • Evaluations that rely solely on screening measures without incorporating neuropsychological elements are not sufficient.
  4. Telehealth Evaluations
    • Evaluations conducted via telehealth or online meetings are not accepted.

Why These Standards Matter

Our goal is to ensure that every evaluation provides a thorough and accurate understanding of an individual’s needs. By requiring evaluations to meet these standards, we can better support individuals with the most effective and appropriate care.
